Forever ago internet access came with a free web site or at least a home page. All the cool kids had one with lots of colorful buttons and as many animated gifs as possible.
This is how my web site started. Latter I secured a domain name and a web hosting service. This allows for one-way interaction with the world or at least the 39 visitors a year.
There is a history of my GeoCities type sites (here)
I never joined social media (Face Book, Instagrahm, Linked In, Tick Tock). Personal data vacuums! Maybe I should join to check on the grandkids.
I found a nice piece on the early internet (here)
20 + years ago Halloween turned into a serious obsession. Folks check the site out once a year to see what's new and catch a couple of videos. Sadly its not maintained as it could be with less instructional content than I hoped.
During Halloween setup people stop by and I hand out these business cards with a link to the Halloween web site:
I also put a sign in the yard with a QR code to the web site:
_______________'s first Birthday party.
Have you seen the latest photos of _______________?
The Grand Canyon. Your Granddad in the marines.
The photo of that guy nobody knows in that place nobody can identify. I wish it was in focus.
I have a lot of stuff and collect everything.
Is Grandpa ok or laying around curled up in a ball?
